The project
FJNR was mandated to design a complete technological solution, integrating both embedded systems and innovative cloud services. The main objective of this project was to develop an immersive and engaging user experience through interactive tasting machines, allowing users to easily interact with the products offered. In parallel, FJNR also had to set up remote data management, ensuring fluidity of access and control. Thus, the team worked to create a turnkey solution harmoniously combining hardware and cloud for the Uptaste client.

An integrated technological solution
Raspberry Pi and embedded sensors
FJNR used a microcomputer to manage the features of Uptaste’s machines, including a touchscreen to request tastings, infrared sensors to detect user presence, and cameras to collect data. This setup allows for a smooth and intuitive interaction.
Plateforme web embarquée
Une interface web responsive a été développée pour s’afficher sur les écrans tactiles. Cette interface simple et conviviale permet aux utilisateurs de demander des dégustations, de laisser des avis et de prendre un selfie.
En plus de l’interface utilisateur, FJNR a intégré un espace caché dédié aux techniciens, accessible sur le terrain comme en usine. Cette interface permet de configurer et contrôler les machines sans nécessiter de connaissances techniques, facilitant ainsi la maintenance.
Connectivity via cellular network
Uptaste’s tasting machines are connected via a cellular data network, requiring a robust system that can handle the challenges of intermittent connectivity. FJNR has therefore developed a solution that is fully resilient to network drop issues, ensuring that the machines continue to operate reliably even in the event of a weak signal or loss of connection. This approach allows for continuous data collection and an uninterrupted user experience.
A robust cloud infrastructure
Firebase for real-time management
The cloud solution is based on Firebase, allowing real-time synchronization between each machine and the cloud. Usage data, consumption data and error logs are instantly updated, allowing Uptaste to react quickly to user feedback.
Admin Dashboard
FJNR also developed a comprehensive administration dashboard allowing managers to track food inventory, allergens, and manage customer orders in real time. This dashboard includes a feature to export the results of each tasting campaign to present them as promotional documents to customers, reflecting Uptaste’s brand image.
The impact
The installation of the machines has allowed Uptaste to offer an immersive and engaging food experience. Thanks to real-time data analysis, Uptaste can adjust its campaigns based on user interaction. In addition, the cloud infrastructure ensures high scalability, facilitating expansion to other locations without loss of quality. Managers can also export campaign reports, facilitating communication with their customers.
