Escale – The RQCALACS Platform
The Regroupement Québécois des Centers d’Aide et de Lutte contre les Assaults à Caractere Sexual (RQCALACS) is a non-profit organization that engages in autonomous community action. The Group brings together CALACS with the aim of promoting the exchange of expertise between members, supporting the search for solutions to stop sexual violence and ensuring the development of feminist intervention services in sexual assault for all women. of Quebec.

The project
The “Escale” project was initially entrusted to an external service provider to develop a digital platform aimed at supporting victims of sexual violence. However, the latter encountered difficulties in maintaining its technical subcontractors, jeopardizing the project. To ensure the continuity of this social initiative and avoid additional costs, RQCALACS called on FJNR to take over development, correct technical inconsistencies and improve the user experience (UX).
In short, FJNR was mandated to take over the development of the “Escale” platform in order to guarantee its success and sustainability.
An advanced technological solution
Management of organizations & committees
The organizations and committees management functionality makes it possible to effectively structure and organize the different entities involved in supporting victims. This includes the ability to add, edit or delete organizations, ensuring the information available to users is constantly updated.
Managing community members
This feature makes it easy to manage community members, facilitating their engagement and participation in the activities offered. Administrators can track membership, send notifications, and ensure each member receives relevant information.
Publishing news, resources and events
The platform allows publishing of news, resources and events, providing users with easy access to important information about rights, available services, upcoming activities, as well as news regarding sexual violence. This helps responders raise awareness and inform victims about their options. It also helps keep community members engaged and up to date with the latest developments and initiatives.
Advanced notification system
The advanced notification system allows precise management of notifications, whether by email or through the platform. Users can choose to receive alerts on topics that concern them, ensuring effective and personalized communication.
Collaboration with RPRQ
The free software developed for Escale was adopted by the Regroupement des Popotes Roulantes du Québec (RPRQ). We have integrated a map representing the areas of activity of each organization, as well as the address of their main offices.
Integrated membership and auto-renewal system
RPRQ also mandated FJNR to develop an integrated membership system, allowing members to register and renew their membership automatically. This feature facilitates member management and ensures accurate membership tracking.
Improved user experience (UX)(UX)
On the UX level, we mainly detected and corrected technical inconsistencies. Many pages contained information that could not be filled in elsewhere or buttons that were not technically functional. These adjustments have improved navigation and ensured a smooth and intuitive user experience.
The impact
The “Escale” platform has become an essential tool for RQCALACS, effectively supporting victims of sexual violence and promoting the management of community resources. Thanks to the intervention of FJNR, the project was able to regain its momentum and continue to serve its users optimally. Escale is an essential tool to support victims, strengthening community engagement and resource management.
